TAG is a comic that I started back in 2010, when I was still a student. It came about as a more lighthearted, much less artistically serious counterpart to my main comic at the time – as a story for me to unwind with, and work on grinding together my basic skillsets without fretting about cliches. The result… is this! A slightly disjointed, thematically odd fantasy world with cities, boats and scooters but also elves, magic and swords; and a serious case of twee story resolution.
It’s also a bit of a challenge. Each chapter consists of one day of Micki’s time on the island of Kailani, running roughly 40-50 pages long each. She has 30 days. Two pages a week. You do the maths.
Yep, I’m in this for the long haul!
In the last five years, my art has changed significantly too, as you’ll notice from the spread in the archives, so please bear with earlier chapters as we progress. Above all, sit back, enjoy the ride, and try not to think too hard about how that scoreboard works!
Day 1 was first printed in 2011, with subsequent completed days following suit. I hold a contest at the end of each for fanart to be printed in the back. The resulting glossy, full colour A5 books follow me around to conventions in London. If you’re in the area at MCM times, drop by and say hi!
